San Diego Alliance for APIAs invites you to the 16th Annual San Diego Dragon Boat Festival.

On land, celebrate with Pan-Asian cultures and cuisines!

​On water, race to the beat of the drums!

This event is free to the general public. Everyone is welcome to stop by, watch the races, cheer for your favorite team, watch the cultural performances on stage, and enjoy vendor food.

Only registered teams, see below, will be allo​wed to compete during the event.

Teams
The following divisions are opened to 18-paddler team
  • Open
  • Women
  • Mixed; much include a minimum of 8 women
All team may have up to 18 paddlers in a boat at once (no minimum set).

The following division is are opened to 10-paddler team
  • Corporate/Community: this division is aimed at novice team, i.e. team that do not train or complete on a regular basis
All team in that division may have up to 10 paddlers in a boat at once.  Standard 20-seat boats will be used.  

All divisions will complete over 250m, up to 4 boats at a time.

Saturday, May 13, 2023

  • 8:30 am: Southern Sea Lion Dancers open Festival
  • 8:45 am Procession of Competing Teams
  • 9: 00 Opening Ceremony & Blessing of Dragon Boats
  • 10 to 12:30pm Dragon Boat competition (morning session)
  • 11 to 3pm: Performances by Asian Pacific Islander performing artist
  • 1pm to 4pm Dragon Boat competition (afternoon session)
  • 4pm: Awards & Closing Ceremony
