Desert DragonsFire cannot kill a dragon. Thus, the Las Vegas Desert Dragons thrive in the merciless Mojave desert. This diverse group varies in age, experience, and hidden talents. It also features several romantic partnerships, which keep their boat full of love and dedication. Together, they can make the fiercest waves, winds, and rain bend the knee and carry them to the finish line.
While the Desert Dragons spend their 9-5 hours making Las Vegas a safe and robust community, these lawyers, educators, accountants, medical professionals. and more, spend every spare minute on their man-made lake preparing for battle. The Desert Dragons consider themselves their toughest competition and eat their hearts out daily to improve their skills. Most importantly, when their paddles are not pinky-deep in man-made lake water, the Desert Dragons battle cancer, multiple sclerosis, hunger, and homelessness throughout the Las Vegas valley through their partnership with local food banks and shelters, as well as with their participation in various runs, bike races, and fundraisers. Every member of this team is highly dedicated to giving back to their community and donates dozens of hours throughout the year to the team's adopted causes. |
Dragon An AnchorA long time ago in a galaxy not so far, far away.... the University of California, San Diego assembled an Environment, Health and Safety team to protect, prevent and defend against evil risks and hazards that could plague the University. This elite group of research safety, general safety, hazardous material wranglers, environmental champions, and risk management warriors have now come together in a united effort to paddle a dragon boat. May the FORCE be with them.

PKU 5/4Peking University (PKU) in Beijing is the first modern national university in China, and has consistently enjoyed its reputation as the most prestigious university in the country. PKU’s alumni are all over the world; many found their new home in America’s finest city.
San Diego Peking University Alumni Association (SDPKUAA), a 501(c)(3) organization, was established in 2010 with the purposes of connecting PKU alumni and serving the San Diego local communities, and has grown into a big happy family of over 200 PKU alumni, family and friends. Because of dragon boat’s deep roots in the Chinese culture, and its value as a team building vehicle, SDPKUAA started to organize dragon boat practices in 2015. Our first race was the 6th Annual San Diego International Dragon Boat Race in September of 2015. Since then we have participated in all the major races in southern California-San Diego, Los Angeles, and Long Beach, and won numerous prizes. And, here we are, keep challenging ourselves, enjoying dragon boating and San Diego in the 15th SDDBF! |
SDAYOThe San Diego Asian Youth Organization (SDAYO), was founded by the San Diego Police Department in 1995. Team TaikoTaiko Community San Diego (TCSD) consists of taiko players and groups who pound and shake the city of San Diego with the powerful sound of the Japanese taiko drum.
